Aurora Meliora was established in January 2021 by Tanya Lehmann. After more than two decades in the public health system, Tanya left a well-paying, secure government job to start up a small business that would enable her to do more of what she loved, more of the time. She knew she didn’t want to work alone, so she partnered up with some amazing people, and experimented her way through the first year. Along the way, she often felt like she was running along an unknown path, laying cobble stones just before stepping on them. Eventually, the core purpose, direction and form of Aurora Meliora took shape.

At its core, Aurora Meliora exists to highlight and amplify the human potential in workplaces, so that for-purpose organisations can deliver positive impact without damaging people in the process.

“We need leaders who recognise the harm being done to people and planet through the dominant practices that control, ignore, abuse, and oppress the human spirit. We need leaders who put service over self, stand steadfast in crisis and failure, and who display unshakable faith that people can be generous, creative and kind”. — Margaret Wheatley

Aurora Meliora was created in response to Margaret Wheatley’s rising call to action. We are about nurturing leaders, uniting teams, aligning cultures and facilitating intentional design of performance systems and change processes…in ways that are generous, creative and kind. We also seek to live out these values in the way we work with our clients, collaborators and communities.

About Aurora Meliora

Aurora means the dawn, or first light.

Meliora means the pursuit of ever better.

Together, they stand for the bold idea that work can be both nourishing and productive. Every new day brings a fresh opportunity to learn from yesterday, dream for tomorrow and live into our improvement potential today.

The Aurora Meliora logo is the morning star.

The morning star symbolises clarity of direction & purpose. When we are navigating unknown territory, when the knowledge and tools we used in the past don’t seem adequate for the complex challenges ahead, and we are weary from the journey, the morning star gives us hope.

As a bright, navigational star, it keep us connected to the values that guide our decisions when we don’t know what to do next, and to our vision of a better tomorrow. It also reminds us that restorative rest is important, and after each night comes a fresh day filled with opportunities to try again.
